Teamsters Local 179 held their Sixth Annual Membership Picnic on Saturday, August 1st. It was a perfect a day for a picnic and approximately 700 members and their families came for food, drinks, raffle prizes and more!
Along with the food and drinks, Local 179 provided a DJ, two water slides, an awesome monster jumpy and an inflatable slide for the kids. Inside the membership hall, guests could cool off, grab some popocorn from the popcorn wagon, get their pictures taken in the photo booth or get their faces painted! Guests could also enter the annual bags tournament. Teamsters Joint Counci 25 brought their semi down for the day and Local 179 also had an ice cream truck for a cool end to a great day!
Once again this year, Ridge & Downes, LLC donated goody bags with items for each member as well as all of the raffle prizes. Prizes raffled off included four kid's bikes, eight 32" televisions, a Fitbit, two portable stereos, one Sony home stereo system, four sets of wireless speakers, two Sony Extra Bass headphones, two Nintendo 3DS and two Sony PS Vitas along with other prizes. There was a $601.00 50/50 split the pot, with proceeds going to breast cancer research. Each first place winner of the bags tournament won a $100 gift card and second place winners each received $50 gift cards.
"I would like to thank everyone who attended this year's picnic along with all of our volunteers. You all helped to make our picnic a great success," said President Tom Flynn.
